Much better than the first one

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 13 December 2014 12:59 (A review of Superman II)

'Superman II' is much better than the first one. It features much more powerful action than 'Superman'. Although Christopher Reeve was great in 'Superman', he's still gives a great performance in this one. The script of this movie convinces me more and the invincible villains are mind-blowing!

NOTE: My 250th review! Yay!

Overdose of slapstick and lack of good comedy

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 11 December 2014 05:03 (A review of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York)

In 'Home Alone', Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) was left home alone when his parents and his many siblings went on vacation. He had to defend the house from burgulars. A year later, he gets lost in New York and the same burgulars are chasing after him.

'Home Alone 2: Lost In New York' features an overdose of slapstick and lack of good comedy. The beginning is mediocre with some weird gags which despite that are still actually bareable. But then Kevin sexually harrasses a woman (yes, I forgot I was watching a kids movie) and drops bricks on Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) exposing their blood.

The whole criminal scene didn't amuse me at all and was full of inappropriate jokes including being shot in inappropriate areas and bricks exposing blood. There is, in particular, a brief scene where one of the criminals tries to get something electric to work and he turns to a skeleton, that may give kids nightmares!

'Home Alone 2' is the movie that features not just an overdose of slapstick but also inappropriate slapstick! And if you have younger kids, just show them something made by Pixar. I didn't care much for 'Home Alone', I hated 'Home Alone 2'!

I really like the humour of this movie

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 7 December 2014 01:55 (A review of Paddington)

A young bear from the Jungles of Peru travels to London to find a home and meets the Brown family! They name him Paddington (Ben Whishaw). He causes trouble for Mr Brown (Hugh Bonneville) by accidentally flooding the bathroom but receives some likeness from Mrs Brown (Sally Hawkins) and their son Jonathan!

I really like the humour of this movie! This movie features kid and adult entertainment! I do prefer 'Toy Story' and 'The LEGO Movie' but this is really good entertainment for kids and adults!

It may be a bit scary for kids though. Nicole Kidman plays Millicent, the villain who has a collection of stuffed animals and wants to stuff Paddington! Like many fake villains, Mr Curry (Peter Capaldi) pretends to be on her side and then betrays her by telling the Browns about it!

This is a PG rated movie and the dangerous behaviour and mild threat makes sense! Parents! Accompany your kids, they will love it but should not copy the dangerous behaviour of Paddington skateboarding and flying with an umbrella or using toothbrushes to clean his ears!

'Paddington' features entertaining humour, a funny cast and an intelligent plot! It's not a great movie, but it's definitely worth seeing! For all ages!

Much better told and interesting than the 1990

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 1 December 2014 07:19 (A review of Lord of the Flies)

In 1990, they made an American film of the classic book 'Lord of the Flies'. It received mixed reviews and a poor review from me! Fortunately 27 years prior to that, they made a 1963 British film which is much better told and interesting than the 1990 film.

What I hated about the remake was the heavy Americanization! This version was British like the plot is. This movie features amazing talented young actors and intelligent direction by Peter Brook.ย

This is a very good movie and close to being a great movie!

I love it!

Posted : 9 years, 5 months ago on 7 November 2014 05:02 (A review of The Social Network)

'The Social Network' is definitely one of the best movies of all time and not just of 2010! The plot is brilliantly written, the acting and directing are great and I love the music too! It's one of my selections for the best movie of 2010! I love it!

Meryl Streep is brilliant as Margaret Thatcher!

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 28 October 2014 08:37 (A review of The Iron Lady)

'The Iron Lady' is known to be one of Meryl Streep's best performances! Definitely! The film has also received mixed reviews, disagree! This is one of the best movies 2011 has to offer! Meryl Streep is brilliant as Margaret Thatcher and the storytelling is very well told! Definitely a great must-see masterpiece!

It looks great

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 27 October 2014 01:06 (A review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader)

I thought I would be watching 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' (the cinema had a picture of the poster for the first one) but this is still fun to watch. It features decent acting, it looks great with great visual effects and a good art direction, the plot is nothing great but I still think 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' is still worth seeing!

One of the best movies 2012 has to offer

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 27 October 2014 06:27 (A review of Lincoln)

It seems that 2014 has not much to offer in terms of movies. 2013 had some great movies, 2012 had great movies and so on. 'Lincoln' is one of the best movies 2012 has to offer!

Abraham Lincoln is played by Daniel Day-Lewis in his third Oscar winning performance. Day-Lewis does a fantastic job as Lincoln. The rest of the cast are also very good. The plot about killing slavery is well told, the visual style looks great and Steven Spielberg's direction is brilliant! Great movie!

Mostly entertaining

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 26 October 2014 05:56 (A review of Sherlock Holmes)

'Sherlock Holmes' is a mystery film. It is based on the character Sherlock Holmes who is here played by Robert Downey Jr. who gives a rather entertaining performance!

'Sherlock Holmes' is mostly entertaining but has a strange ending and other too weird mystery scenes. Still it features great cinematography and visual style and some good acting from the cast! A good mystery movie!

Hilariously bad copy of 'Lord of the Rings'

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 24 October 2014 07:32 (A review of Season of the Witch)

'Season of the Witch' is a hilariously bad copy of 'Lord of the Rings'. What was Nicolas Cage thinking of? The dialogue is laughable, the sword fights are dull, the story is appalling and badly told, the art direction and visual effects are cheap and Nicolas Cage did it for a paycheck! Give it some credit though! It's so bad, it's actually hilarious to watch!
