Good performances and a good plot

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 23 October 2014 05:47 (A review of Hereafter)

'Hereafter' features good performances and a good plot. I like Matt Damon and Cecile De France! It features three dramatic different plots, all focusing on death! The movie has a beautiful score and some good visual effects. The cast deliver great performances, although the plots are good, the movie goes on too long and has around 10 minutes of dullness. But most of the movie is pretty good and worth seeing!

Should've been called 'Alvin and the Sh*tmunks!'

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 15 October 2014 05:57 (A review of Alvin and the Chipmunks)

'Alvin and the Chipmunks' proves that you don't need a good movie to have a box office success! But seriously, there have already been TWO sequels!!! All box office successes, I can see why this one would be a box office success but the sequels?! 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' are great movies and what did they have to show for it? Great reviews but box-office flops! And what did 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' have to show for being terrible? A pile of money at the box office!

So why is this movie terrible? The animation is good but the chipmunks are abnoxious! They are a singing group and in this movie, they sing annoying versions of popular songs! The acting and plotting is also awful. Younger kids will probably love it but only show it to your older kids if they've been really bad! Should've been called 'Alvin and the Sh*tmunks!'

A classic ride

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 4 October 2014 06:10 (A review of The Matrix)

'The Matrix' is a classic ride! It should entertain you for the entire movie! It's a masterpiece thanks to its interesting plot, cutting edge visual effects and amazing performances by the whole cast! The action is also really good! No wonder this kind of movie won four Academy Awards! Definitely a must-see!

The best fantasy movie ever

Posted : 9 years, 7 months ago on 14 September 2014 09:39 (A review of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King)

'Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' is the classic masterpiece of the three 'Lord of the Rings' films! I didn't care much for 'Fellowship of the Ring' but I really loved 'Two Towers' but this? This was better than both of them! Although every hour is brilliant, the last 10 minutes feature too many endings when they should've stuck with two.

As the best fantasy movie ever, 'The Return of the King' has everything you could ever want - great visual style, acting, writing, directing and music! It's better than any 'Harry Potter' movie! It's also far scarier than the other two 'Lord of the Rings' movies! Forget 'Love Actually', 'The Return of the King' is the king of 2003 cinema!

Scary and yet well written!

Posted : 9 years, 7 months ago on 1 September 2014 06:14 (A review of The Godfather)

'The Godfather' is scary and yet well written! It's not the best movie I've seen but it's very close! Marlon Brando and Al Pacino are great in the leading roles, the script and plot are pretty good as is the direction! One of the best movies out there!

I was surrounded by funny zombies

Posted : 9 years, 8 months ago on 27 August 2014 06:55 (A review of Shaun of the Dead)

In 'Shaun of the Dead', I was surrounded by funny zombies! What a funny movie made by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright! The gags are hilarious, the effects and make up are gross but well done and the plot is very funny! I wish it had been made into LEGO but I can see why it wasn't.

Indeed an American beauty

Posted : 9 years, 8 months ago on 21 August 2014 09:05 (A review of American Beauty)

'American Beauty' is indeed an American beauty! What can I say? I doubt 'Fight Club' will be as good in my opinion and I can say that this is one of those rare times where the Academy Awards have got it right!

This movie is so amazing, I had to decide the king of movies between 'Memento' and 'American Beauty' and personally I prefer 'Memento' but hardly!

The movie makes sense at the end and it all fits together! The protagonist Lester (Kevin Spacey) is married to Carolyn (Annette Bening) and they have a daughter Jane (Thora Birch). Lester falls for Jane's friend Angela (Mena Suvari) and Jane falls for Ricky (Wes Bentley) while Carolyn falls for another man and cheats on her husband. Ricky at first films Jane and then she asks him to kill her father.

Kevin Spacey is amazing in the lead role! His dialogue is amazing and his acting skills are top-notch. The rest of the cast are also wonderful! Mena Suvari is in the right movie and so are the rest of the cast!

Alan Ball has written a masterpiece which Sam Mendes has masterfully directed! And the ending is so shocking and unexpected but similar to 'Memento', they give a sneak peak earlier in the movie that it will happen at some point! And 'American Beauty' happens to be my second favourite movie ever! Which do you prefer? 'Memento' or 'American Beauty'. To each his own!

'Transformers' features great effects

Posted : 9 years, 8 months ago on 20 August 2014 08:08 (A review of Transformers)

'Transformers' features great effects and action scenes and some good acting, but I didn't think it was a very good idea to focus more on the humans. Still the entire cast charms, the whole thing looks amazing and the action scenes are mind-blowing! This is surely better than the sequels (which I haven't yet seen)

What a great movie

Posted : 9 years, 8 months ago on 20 August 2014 06:35 (A review of 12 Years a Slave)

What's the most unpleasant drama you've ever seen? Is it 'Passion of the Christ' or something like that? For now, mine would be '12 Years A Slave', the Oscar winning movie of 2013. '12 Years A Slave' features bad torture such as whipping and hanging. This movie heavily focuses on racism in the 19th century as African-American Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is kidnapped and sold into slavery for twelve years (hence the title). Before kidnapping, Solomon had a life as a violonist living with his wife and children in New York. That's why, "I don't want to survive, I want to live!" is a great line in the film.

Chiwetel Ejiofor delivers an amazing performance as Northup. He deserves his BAFTA. I have not seen 'Dallas Buyers Club' yet but I will decide whether the Oscar and Golden Globe deserved to go to Matthew McConaghuey or if Chiwetel Ejiofor should've won instead.

What a great movie! Dark, racist and very unpleasant, but also amazing. Forget 'Captain Phillips', '12 Years A Slave' is the new king of 2013 cinema!
