Relies too much on visual style rather than plot

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 26 December 2014 08:33 (A review of Casper)

'Casper' is a children's movie based off the Casper the Friendly Ghost comic books and cartoons. This movie is not a bad adaptation but it puts too much work into visual style and not enough into plotting!

'Casper' features cutting edge visual effects and a great visual style. It features some decent acting from the lead roles (Christianna Ricci and Bill Pullman) but unfortunately it's not enough to save the boring plot and dull script. It has some funny moments and I love the appearence of Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) from 'Ghostbusters' ย as he says "Who ya gonna call? Someone else!". However the movie just relies too much on visual style rather than plot!

One of the oldest Disney classics and a good one

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 24 December 2014 04:24 (A review of Cinderella)

'Cinderella' is an old Disney classic! Based on the fairy tale of a girl whose parents die and is treated like a slave by her stepmother and ugly stepsisters who are very cruel! This movie is the same/same animation as most animated Disney classics. It's one of the oldest Disney classics and a good one! It does seem as if the mice have lots of screen-time compared to Cinderella and also it surprises me that Cinderella's glass slippers never break until the stepmother trips up the butler! Not big deals though!

'Cinderella' features good animation and voice acting! You notice how many animated Disney classics are adapted (Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, Robin Hood), Disney make good adaptations of these sorts of fantasies! This is no exception (I'm not a big fan of 'Robin Hood' though) and is worth watching!

One of the best classics ever

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 24 December 2014 02:15 (A review of Casablanca)

'Casablanca' is a classic movie, one of the best classics ever! The plot is inspiring, the performances by the cast including Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt and Sydney Greenstreet, are amazing! The dialogue is brilliant, memorable and well said ('You'll regret it! Not today, not tomorrow, but some time for the rest of your life!'). One of those very old brilliant classics like 'Gone With The Wind' and 'The Wizard of Oz' but better than both of them!

Very good if not better than 'Spider-Man 2'

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 23 December 2014 02:35 (A review of Iron Man)

'Iron Man' boasts a nice costume of Iron Man, a good performance by his actor Robert Downey Jr. and some great visual effects. It also features some epic action scenes! Very good if not better than 'Spider-Man 2', I really like this movie for its action and acting and visual effects! Definitely worth watching!

Features wierd but good plotting and great effects

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 23 December 2014 11:25 (A review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)

'The Chronicles of Narnia' features weird but good plotting and massive visual effects. The plotting about the four siblings Lucy (Georgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Susan (Anna Popplewell) and Peter (William Moseley) going through a wardrobe into a world of snow and witches and a talking lion voiced by Liam Neeson is weird but actually really entertaining. The acting is good (especially Georgie Henley) and the visual effects are cutting edge! The sword fights are also entertaining and the score too!

Much dumber and nastier than it is funny

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 21 December 2014 11:47 (A review of Dumb and Dumber)

'Dumb & Dumber' tries to be funny and instead it appals me! It stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as two dumb friends who do crude, unfunny things through most of the movie!

There are a few funny moments but most of the moments in the movie are unfunny and/or nausceating! And I'm talking about Lloyd (Jim Carrey) when he fights a waiter and bites him in the crotch and then fights a chef, rips out his heart and puts it in a bag! The idiot friends even sell a blind boy a dead parrot! Not funny! Just cruel! Lloyd even urinates in lots of bottles and the police confiscates it. He then drinks the urine in front of them and then says "Get out!"

Even though I love the dog resembling car, 'Dumb & Dumber' is indeed dumb! Much dumber and nastier than it is funny!

A good movie with good plotting

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 18 December 2014 02:39 (A review of Ocean's Eleven)

'Ocean's Eleven is a good movie with good plotting, acting from George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon and direction. The crime comedy is entertaining and the relationship between Danny (George Clooney) and Tess (Julia Roberts) is really good! Worth watching!

I'm plotting revenge on the fallen right now

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 17 December 2014 02:55 (A review of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen)

'Transformers' was a good movie, I liked the plotting, the acting and the visual effects. 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' (the first of three sequels) only kept one of those - the visual effects!

I'm plotting revenge on the fallen right now! This movie made no sense at all! The script is bloated, dull and senseless, the actors are terrible (it doesn't surprise me Megan Fox quit after this one, just like Malculay Culkin quit 'Home Alone' after the second one) and the direction is bad too! The visual effects are nice to look at and really the only positive thing I can say about it! Not the worst movie of 2009, but still awful!

Features good plotting and effects

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 15 December 2014 01:35 (A review of The Incredible Hulk)

'Hulk' received mixed reviews upon release and the audience are calling it one of the worst superhero movies of all time. Haven't seen it but have seen 'The Incredible Hulk'

'The Incredible Hulk' features good plotting and effects. Edward Norton is good in the lead role as Bruce Banner or the Hulk. However the start is not that interesting but as a whole the movie is still worth watching for the plotting, effects and Edward Norton's performance as Hulk.

The Wizard of Oz is indeed wonderful

Posted : 9 years, 4 months ago on 13 December 2014 06:58 (A review of The Wizard of Oz)

We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the Wizard of Oz is indeed wonderful. The songs are memorable especially 'We're Off To See The Wizard' and 'Over the Rainbow'

And somewhere over the rainbow there is a great cast with Judy Garland in the lead as Dorothy. The visual style of the magical world is amazing and the visual effects are great (for that time)
