Yabba Dabba Doo me a favour and avoid

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 5 November 2013 07:20 (A review of The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas)

'The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas' is a prequel (not a sequel) to 'The Flintstones' which I really enjoyed, due to that, I thought I'd enjoy this one as well

Yabba Dabba Doo me a favor and don't watch 'The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas', it's very miscast (except Jane Krakowski who is an arguably better Betty than Rosie O'Donnell) and the story is pretty boring

It explains how Fred and Barney got their jobs and how they met the Gazoo but they say only Fred and Barney can see him and then at Fred and Wilma's wedding at the end, Dino licks the Gazoo - in the cartoon, Dino can see Gazoo too but thinking about it makes me dizzy

But why throw in some mature content? There's not as much mature content as in 'The Cat In The Hat' and PG is a suitable rating but when Chip's girlfriend Roxie takes Barney to an All-You-Can Eat buffet to seduce him, a cream pie goes in her face and Barney wipes it off her chest making Betty think he is touching her breasts? Who thought that would be suitable for young kids? (the cartoon is for kids too you know)

Although the cast is miscast, the actors put effort into their performances and should not be blamed for the disaster (with the exception of Stephen Baldwin who is really terrible in it)

To conclude, 'The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas' is a bad prequel to a masterpiece predecessor and a complete waste of time, money and talent (it cost a lot of money and was a huge flop at the box office)

Interesting, funny and well acted

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 3 November 2013 06:15 (A review of The Kids Are All Right)

'The Kids Are All Right' is a very interesting movie because of its interesting story about lesbians who have two kids (one is 18) because their biological father is a sperm donor who they want to meet - that sounds pretty interesting!

The cast give some very good performances (Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska, John Hutcherson) and the directing is also very good

The same year that 'The Kids Are All Right' was released, Mia Wasikowska made her highest grossing movie 'Alice In Wonderland' with Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter well since this is slightly better, couldn't this be more successful?

It deserves its critical praise and Oscar nomination and is definitely worth watching, this is my 50th review and for a very good movie

Pretty annoying

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 3 November 2013 06:09 (A review of Fred Claus)

I remember watching 'Fred Claus' with my uncle, I thought it was alright back then but I just remembered it and now I think it's terrible

The song 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' is sung by way beyond obnoxious singers and the story is really ludicrous - Fred Claus and Santa Claus have been estranged brothers for years and when Santa is going to be shut down, Fred must help his brother to save Christmas - not a very interesting plot is it

To conclude, 'Fred Claus' will be enjoyed if you're 8 or younger but otherwise, it should be avoided

Solid performances, music and a decent story

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 2 November 2013 03:00 (A review of The Perks of Being a Wallflower)

'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' is a really good film thanks to its great leads (Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, its wonderful music, and its appealing, thoughtful script.

'The Perks of Being A Wallflower' is a movie that would be enjoyed by anyone who enjoyed the Harry Potter series or anyone who enjoys the best movies (of course 'The Perks of Being A Wallflower' is not far from being a great movie/a masterpiece)

It may well turn out that besides the Harry Potter series, the most successful lead is Emma Watson who made a movie enjoyed by everyone ('Driving Lessons' was mostly panned and 'Wild Target' was more panned, 'The Woman In Black' was really terrible to me while 'December Boys' was panned)

To conclude, 'The Perks of Being A Wallflower' is definitely worth a look and a must-see for any die-hard fan of the Harry Potter series or dramas or romances

Just watching it is funny, the story isn't funny

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 1 November 2013 08:31 (A review of 17 Again)

It must have been a few years since I saw '17 Again' and I don't remember much about it, I can say you'll have a laugh just watching it, you won't laugh so much at the story, '17 Again' is worth a look but only if you don't give a dam about the story

An awful movie

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 31 October 2013 05:26 (A review of Street Fighter)

A movie based on a video game never gets good reviews and 'Street Fighter' is not an exception! The only attraction of this crap is Raul Julia, but his good performance isn't enough!

I have never played the game but I get the idea and it just won't work as a movie which they made a year after a crappy Mario movie. Did they think that 'Street Fighter' could improve! It may have been a box office success but it's worse than 'Super Mario Bros'

To conclude the movie is a waste of the late Raul Julia's talent and definitely not worth your time at all

Disappointing compared to 'Sleepless In Seattle'

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 30 October 2013 05:56 (A review of You've Got Mail)

Although I liked 'You've Got Mail', it's nothing compared to 'Sleepless In Seattle'

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are good though and it is still far from being a bad movie, at times it is funny and I think it is worth your time

Contains solid thrills and decent acting

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 30 October 2013 05:52 (A review of Ender's Game)

My expectations were average but I enjoyed 'Ender's Game', there was a good cast (Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin) that gave some very good acting, it contained solid thrills and some amazing effects

Just wondering if they'll make any of the sequels, as 'Ender's Game' is the first book in a series, who knows? To conclude, 'Ender's Game' is a decent movie and definitely worth a look

A bad movie

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 30 October 2013 10:27 (A review of Thomas and the Magic Railroad)

I remember watching 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad' years ago, back then, it was one of my favorite movies and I loved the TV series, I last saw it 10 years ago and watching the Nostalgia Critic's review, I thought "He's made some good points in his review!"

It is bang on target for the target audience of children under 5, but only they are likely to be satisfied, andย the movie has problems; the plot is confusing for kids, the acting isn't very good, Alec Baldwin's dialogue is laughable and the Americanization wasn't needed.

Nevertheless, the movie has a very good look; the models and sets look great, the poster looks great and there are a few funny moments.

But I also wish they could make the lips move, I am aware that they don't move in the TV series but the TV series (before the movie) was only 5 minutes, surely for an over hour movie, they can find a way to make the lips move and put a stop to Thomas's painted on grin (by changing from models to CGI, they finally made the lips move and not just the eyes).

The best thing is Leonardo DiCaprio's performance

Posted : 10 years, 6 months ago on 28 October 2013 12:36 (A review of What's Eating Gilbert Grape)

Although 'Titanic' is Leonardo DiCaprio's most famous role, 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' is his best, Johnny Depp is also very good in this one

'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' is original, touching and well-acted but the one who steals the show is Leonardo DiCaprio who earned an Oscarยฎ nomination for his performance and he deserves it, the rest of the cast are also pretty good (Johnny Depp, Juliette Lewis, Mary Steenburgen, Darlene Cates, Laura Harrington, Mary Kate Schellhardt, Kevin Tighe, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover)

To conclude, 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' is a masterpiece and definitely worth your time
