One of the best of 'The Simpsons'

Posted : 10 years ago on 21 April 2014 06:26 (A review of Who Shot Mr. Burns?)

'Who Shot Mr Burns?' is an episode for everyone to enjoy! Ah! One of the best of 'The Simpsons' lies here where Mr Burns takes the piss out of everyone in Springfield and nails it when blocking out the sun. He is then shot by an unknown Springfielder and no one knows who did it!

The start of Pixar

Posted : 10 years ago on 20 April 2014 12:03 (A review of Toy Story)

'Toy Story' is the start of Pixar's best franchise! And nothing can beat the 'Toy Story' series! Not even 'The Incredibles' or 'WALL-E' or whatever!

For little kids, 'Toy Story' answers the question - "Do toys come to life when you're not there?", little kids are probably thinking yes, I saw this movie when I was little and I thought "Maybe it's true!"

'Toy Story' is about a cowboy doll Woody (Tom Hanks) who is his owner Andy (John Morris)'s favourite toy, but just before they move house, Andy has his birthday party which brings an epic space toy Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) to Andy's Room, when Andy pays more attention to Buzz, Woody feels jealous and as if Buzz has replaced him!

Pixar had never made a feature movie before but 'Toy Story' took a rather dark tone! This movie is rated PG in the UK and G in the USA and until I watched 'Brave', I thought this was the darkest Pixar movie! ('The Incredibles' is pretty dark too)

And what was dark about 'Toy Story'? Well the mutant toys (especially Babyface) freaked me out the first time I saw them! And the scene where Andy's evil neighbour Sid (Erik Von Detten)'s toys come to life before him! Fortunately the sequels were a lot less scary (except maybe the incinerator scene from 'Toy Story 3')

Pixar have made thirteen other features as of today! And I like them all!

An average movie

Posted : 10 years ago on 19 April 2014 11:22 (A review of The Muppet Christmas Carol)

Like 'The Muppets', I found 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' disappointing. It follows the original story of 'A Christmas Carol', with the insertions of Muppets, though it doesn't really stand out from the other Christmas Carol or Muppets movies much, and the songs are not particularly memorable, although Michael Caine is a good Scrooge, and the puppetry is still really impressive.

Never gets old

Posted : 10 years ago on 19 April 2014 09:47 (A review of Nostalgia Critic)

'The Nostalgia Critic' has been around for a while and I've seen many episodes! This show never gets old! It's hilarious!

The show focuses on a sarcastic bitter movie critic known as the Nostalgia Critic (Doug Walker) who often reviews movies that are no longer in theatres and criticises most of them! As well as reviews, he does VS Rounds (Old Vs. New) and does Top 11 rounds

Most of his videos have at least one scene of hilarity! His 'Batman & Robin' review features the song 'Supercrapperf*ckarifficexpiallabullsh*t' which is a parody of a song that everyone knows and his tribute to Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel with someone having his balls out!

I've had mostly good opinions of the Nostalgia Critic but when he pitted 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' against 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', I thought the last round was unfair as he pointed out that 'Charlie' fills in a lot of plot holes in 'Wonka' but gives 'Wonka' the mark just because Wonka is the main character in the 'Charlie' version! And I had mixed opinions about his review of 'Hook' because he pointed out a lot of errors about it but yet he still loves it!

'Bart's Nightmare' was (possibly) his only video game review. I had a more negative opinion about his review, he plays the game, gets pissed off and smashes it! I also had a more negative side on his review of 'The Flintstones', he hated the cartoon and (completely) trashed the movie! His 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad' review was a little more harsh than it should have been because he kept yelling "It's Thomas the F*cking Tank Engine!" and after the first time it seemed over the top! It wasn't a bad review, it had some good laughs though(including him pointing out Alec Baldwin's character sticking out his middle finger which not even the BBFC or MPAA noticed) and one of the best episodes!

I thought his 'Cat In The Hat' review was pretty good though as (like observers), he pointed out all the dirty humour unsuitable for kids! In this episode, he babysits Satan's daughter who shows him the movie and he points out more adult content than many people!

I would love to see the Critic review movies like 'The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas', 'The Love Guru', 'Jack and Jill', 'Fred: The Movie' and the spoof movies written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer ('Disaster Movie', 'Epic Movie', 'Date Movie', etc.) but I'll say (for now) that 'The Nostalgia Critic' is a mostly hilarious show and is worth watching! (if you're a massive Siskel & Ebert fan then check out his tribute to them)

Hilarious gold! Strictly for adults (good taste)

Posted : 10 years ago on 19 April 2014 09:17 (A review of In the Loop)

'In The Loop' is one of the most adult movies rated 15 and it should be rated 15. It's got tons of adult content and is full of non-stop laughter, hilarious dialogue and pop culture references! It comes up with genius jokes (unlike those lame jokes with farting and someone losing their pants) including the whole fax machine scene and the dialogue is full of golden showcase jokes! Hilarious gold! Strictly for adults with good taste only!

Not what I was hoping for

Posted : 10 years ago on 18 April 2014 04:21 (A review of The Great Train Robbery)

I found 'The Great Train Robbery' for watch on Wikipedia (presumably because it's not very long, but it's longer than 'A Trip To The Moon'), I watched the whole movie, I think it is worth a look but it's not what I was hoping for and I think it is rather overrated

One of the all time best games

Posted : 10 years ago on 18 April 2014 04:17 (A review of Mario Kart Wii)

'Mario Kart Wii' is definitely one of the all time best games! I love it! With fun tracks and well thought karts and bikes, 'Mario Kart Wii' is my favourite 'Mario Kart' game and probably my favourite 'Mario' game of all time!

A great demonstration of Tim Burton

Posted : 10 years ago on 17 April 2014 08:26 (A review of Corpse Bride)

Every time you see a movie by Tim Burton, you always know it's going to be dark, strange and goofy and 'Corpse Bride' is a great demonstration of Tim Burton's work

Focusing on a young man Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp) who is about to marry someone he has never met but during rehearsals, he flees and practising in a dark forest, he puts a ring on (what he doesn't know, is) a dead hand, the hand is part of a Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter) who Victor ends up marrying!

'Corpse Bride' is an example of dark animation (like 'South Park' or 'The Nightmare Before Christmas') and features dead characters including a skeleton dog, a green blood filled monster (not sure what the hell he is) and other monsters! It's funny, dark and clever! And I love it!

Probably my favourite game!

Posted : 10 years ago on 17 April 2014 06:56 (A review of Minecraft)

'Minecraft' is probably my favourite game! I love the idea of the game - to build with blocks!

Survival mode - In Survival mode, you need to get enough wood to build a house in order to survive mobs such as Creepers, it's like one of those Build To Survive games on ROBLOX!

Creative mode - I play Creative mode more often and the idea of this game is to build massive things! This mode gives you all the blocks you need (just type them in the search) and the ability to fly and the mobs are still here but not hostile!

One thing that takes the piss out of me is my bloody laptop control! The top part is weaker than the bottom part and easier to click making my delete a bit of my creations! Grrrrr...

More magical than the Disney movie

Posted : 10 years ago on 17 April 2014 06:28 (A review of Peter Pan)

Kids know Peter Pan as the hero who will never grow up and Wendy as the girl who is told she has to! But what kids think that ‘Peter Pan’ won’t work as a live action movie?

To my surprise, I found the live action ‘Peter Pan’ to be better than the Disney movie! ‘Peter Pan’ is more magical than the Disney movie!
Peter Pan (Jeremy Sumpter) returns in real life where he takes Wendy (Rachel Hurd-Wood) and her brothers to Neverland! Now with ‘Hook’, you had an adult Peter Pan (Robin Williams) which critics didn’t want to see! Neither did I! And I didn’t want to see Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell! Ludivine Sagnier is a far better choice! Dustin Hoffman was a good choice for Captain Hook but Jason Isaacs was even better!

‘Peter Pan’ features a charming cast (Jason Isaacs, Jeremy Sumpter, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Richard Briers, Olivia Williams, Lynn Redgrave, Ludivine Sagnier), wonderful effects, stunning sets, mind blowing music and some amazing sword fights! I thought I’d like the 1953 Disney movie more but I liked this one better which says a lot!
