Just b-b-b-brilliant!

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 30 April 2014 05:46 (A review of The King's Speech)

'The King's Speech' is the Oscar winning movie about King George VI's speech! Here he's played by Colin Firth who gives the best lead performance I've ever seen!

'The King's Speech' focuses on King George VI (Firth) who, to cope with a stammer, sees speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) and they work together on it.

'The King's Speech' is just b-b-b-brilliant! Everything about it; the script, the acting, the directing, etc.

This movie also has King George's wife Queen Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) and King Edward III (Guy Pearce; who gives a great performance just like in 'Memento')

'The King's Speech' is definitely one of the most acclaimed movies of 2010, it's easy to see why, it's brilliant but it's not the BEST of 2010...

P.S. That doesn't mean my review will continue :)

Spider-Man, Spider Bland

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 27 April 2014 03:25 (A review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2)

Although I was disappointed by 'The Amazing Spider-Man', I still liked it, but it wasn't that great! But since I preferred 'Spider-Man 2' to 'Spider-Man', I expected 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' to bring Spidey back properly! And how was it... 'Spider-Man, Spider-Bland'

And why didn't I like 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2', well 'The Amazing Spider-Man' took a lot of wrong changes, but since there was no Harry Osborn in the first one, I didn't want to see him in the sequel! And Mary Jane Watson was Peter Parker's girlfriend in the 'Spider-Man' series but in this series, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) is his love interest.

There was a load of lame battles between Spidey (Andrew Garfield) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) and later Spidey and Green Goblin (his son) (Dane DeHaan), I just found all these changes absurd and overly complicated!

This movie started off what I expected then I was disappointed and finally very disappointed! In 'Spider-Man 2', Peter gives up being Spider-Man (and dumps his costume) but then he finds out that he wants it back and becomes Spider-Man again, in this version, he gives up being Spider-Man after something sad but also too soon happens, and it's so underdeveloped!

I just don't see 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' or '4', in fact, there were only three 'Spider-Man' movies and the remake/reboot is getting three SEQUELS?! What the flip flop?!

I think it’s (still) the best movie of 2012

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 27 April 2014 07:02 (A review of Wreck-It Ralph)

It’s a shame that ‘Brave’ won the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature when ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ is 100 times better, ‘Madagascar 3’ is better than ‘Brave’ and it wasn’t even nominated!

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ focuses on video game villain Ralph (John C. Reilly) who has been doing the same job for 30 years – wrecking a penthouse which Felix (Jack McBrayer) the title character fixes. The Nicelanders invite Felix to the penthouse while Ralph has to live in the garbage – smashed up bricks

After leaving the Bad-Anon Support Group (which involves real video game characters), Ralph discovers that the Nicelanders are celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr.’ and Gene (Raymond Persi) tells him that he’d have to win a medal to be able to live in the penthouse and Ralph takes this seriously and abandons his game and goes to ‘Hero’s Duty’ a fighting game. This leads the Nicelanders to realise that without Ralph, they wouldn’t exist either!

Ralph collects his medal at the top of the building (which his enormous hands can do) despite being bad at the game! He accidentally activates an egg of a Cy-Bug (the Cy-Bugs regenerate when attracted to light) and they end up in Sugar Rush

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ features a supporting cast including Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) a glitch/former racer in Sugar Rush and Calhoun (Jane Lynch) the leader of Hero’s Duty! It also features the villain King Candy (Alan Tudyk) who does a very good voiceover which earned him an Annie Award for Voice Acting In A Feature Production

At least ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ won the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature (hell, they nominated ‘Shark Tale’ for the Oscar but not the Annie) because I think it’s (still) the best movie of 2012

And I said earlier about real video game characters appearing in the movie including Pacman and Clyde (from ‘Pacman), Bowser (from ‘Super Mario Bros.), Sonic and Dr. Eggman (from ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’) and Ryu, Ken, M. Bison and Zangief (from ‘Street Fighter’), it’s funny how Zangief is part of the villain league here when his only villain role was in the crappy ‘Street Fighter’ movie (remember the awful one with Jean Claude-Van Damme)

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ features a clever story, funny characters, funny dialogue and other great things to make it only the second best animated movie ever (for now, ‘Toy Story 3’ is my favourite)

Good for kids

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 25 April 2014 08:41 (A review of Cars)

'Cars' is one of my least favourite Pixar movies, it is actually a rather weak plot about a famous racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) accidentally ending up in a town where he accidentally breaks the road; at first he wants fame and fortune but then he realises life is about the journey

'Cars' isn't as good as its poorly received sequel 'Cars 2' (which I actually loved) and they made a spin-off 'Planes' which was really boring! But it was entertaining and good for kids!

This comedy went crazy in badness

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 25 April 2014 08:21 (A review of Crazy on the Outside)

Tim Allen directed 'Crazy on the Outside'; a comedy movie about a former criminal who is released from prison and realises his life is 'crazy on the outside', as the title says

Holy crap! This comedy went crazy in badness! I laughed at about one line in the whole movie:

"Get out of here, before I kick your car to pieces!"

But otherwise, this is the kind of comedy that could only entertain a "laughoholic" who laughs hysterically at every comedy including the bloody stupid ones! This is not an exception but it's easily one of the worst comedies ever!

The movie has an incredibly simple plot; Tommy (Tim Allen) a criminal, is released from prison to find that life is crazier on the outside than it is behind bars, then he starts working at a fast food restaurant Pirate Burger and develops two relationships - Christy (Julie Bowen) who is marrying Frank (Kelsey Grammer) and decides to love both and Angela (Jeanne Tripplehorn) a single officer who he tries to date!

The supporting cast are just so meaningless, they even had this absurd one-liner where Tommy hits Frank in the nuts (thinking Frank was going to hurt him) and says:

"Put the peas on his nuts!"

There are also a lot of scenes of absurd sexuality and unfunny jokes! This movie reunites Tim Allen with co-stars like Sigourney Weaver ('Galaxy Quest'), Ray Liotta ('Wild Hogs'), Kelsey Grammer ('Toy Story 2') and Julie Bowen from ('Joe Somebody') and with Tim Allen and just one of them would've almost certainly been better than this!

An overrated celebration...

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 23 April 2014 09:47 (A review of Tangled)

'Tangled' is Disney's 50th animated classic! An overrated celebration...

'Tangled' is based on the play 'Rapunzel' which stars a princess who uses her hair as a ladder for people to climb up. Now it's not bad but this movie adaptation is overrated!

Don't get me wrong, it's well animated and at times it's funny but it's also overrated in my opinion!

A very bad movie

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 23 April 2014 06:36 (A review of Plan 9 from Outer Space)

Is it better or worse? I'm confused! Really, 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' holds low scores on Listal and IMDB but a high score on Rotten Tomatoes! I'll just say that it's really, really bad.

'Plan 9 From Outer Space' is so bad it's good! It's an Ed Wood movie but hey, he's made something that is hilarious because of its awfulness, and if you want to laugh at a bad movie, check it out!

'Death of a Superhero' is full of talent

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 22 April 2014 03:32 (A review of Death of a Superhero)

'Death of a Superhero' is full of talent - the story, the acting, etc.

The movie focuses on Donald (Thomas Brodie Sangster) a teenager dying of cancer who craves sex and is desperate to have it at least once before he dies. He gets help from Dr. Adrian King (Andy Serkis) and his first love Shelly (Aisling Loftus)

'Death of a Superhero' features an interesting screenplay, some good directing by Ian Fitzgibbon and showcase performances from Thomas Sangster and Andy Serkis in particular! Full of talent!

Deserves its Oscar

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 22 April 2014 03:16 (A review of Creature Comforts (1990))

I’m a fan of animated films and Aardman, the creators of Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit and 'Creature Comforts' was a good short that deserves its Oscar, and would even become a series of award winning Heat Electric ads and then a TV series, to conclude it is great and is worth a watch if you like Aardman and/or Nick Park

I didn

Posted : 9 years, 11 months ago on 22 April 2014 11:22 (A review of Junior)

Watching 'Junior', I had no idea what the target audience was! Too scary for kids and too boring for adults! All these references to sex and drugs.

'Junior' opens with Dr. Alex Hesse (Arnold Schwarzenegger) finding a presumably lost baby, Alex calls for help and then...and then...it pisses everywhere, Alex then finds lots more babies who are screaming and presumably doing the same! But it's just a nightmare!

This movie was so boring that I didn't laugh once! I took multiple breaks! And the number 1 reason that this movie is not suitable for younger kids is...

That was a tough watch! Lol! The Nostalgia Critic found it more terrifying than I did!

So how does Alex get a baby inside him? Well he's a scientist and Dr. Larry Arbogast (Danny DeVito) suggests that he undergoes a male pregnancy which involves in Larry taking all sorts of - drugs maybe? And then Larry drugs Alex's stomach with a needle which has an ovum in it...

Now this movie is overly complicated - and not in a good way! The drug is called Junior? And it's in the title of the movie! And it's what Alex decides to call his baby (unsure of whether it's a boy or a girl)

Now how the hell did Emma Thompson get a part in this? As Dr. Diana Reddin who is the mother of Alex's child because the ovum was from her own body!

Alex gives birth to a baby girl, Larry's ex-wife Angela (Pamela Reed) gives birth to a boy (yes there are two pregnancies in this movie, not one but two)

The biggest flaw is that this movie is so boring and the acting is not very good (not even Emma Thompson was good), the only good thing about this movie is the original song 'Look What Love Has Done', it's in the scenes of Alex dressed as a woman (yes, it got weirder), it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song but for crying out loud, put it with a movie that deserves it!

So I'll just say that I haven't seen 'Twins' (also starring Schwarzenegger and DeVito) and I thought 'Juno' was better than 'Junior'! Bye, bye!
