Hard to understand but I had my own vision

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 18 February 2014 02:25 (A review of Metropolis)

ā€˜Metropolisā€™ is hard to understand but I had my own vision of what was going on in the plot, the music was very good and it just looked great

Everything is indeed awesome

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 18 February 2014 02:20 (A review of The Lego Movie)

ā€˜The Lego Movieā€™ is funny, clever and well-animated, everything is indeed awesome. I was expecting to enjoy it, there was a great cast (Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman) and the plot sounded very funny, the ending in particular was very clever and emotional

My favourite thing was the Good Cop/Bad Cop who is voiced by Liam Neeson who is two faces on one figure, when Lord Business (Will Ferrell) tells him he has to glue his parents, the Good/Bad Cop keeps twisting his face round before Business deletes his good face

A stupid, awful looking pile of waste

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 18 February 2014 02:14 (A review of Horrid Henry: The Movie)

I attended the premiere of ā€˜Horrid Henry: The Movieā€™ hoping to enjoy it, I actually did enjoy itā€¦when I was 10! Now hereā€™s my REAL opinion of it

ā€˜Horrid Henry: The Movieā€™ is a stupid, awful looking pile of waste, it wasnā€™t really a good idea to make a live-action movie based on this cartoon anyway

But what a silly plot; A rival school of Ashton Primary known as Brick House School has its headmaster Vic Van Wrinkle, played by Richard E Grant, who has heard of Henry (Theo Stevenson)ā€™s horridness and tries to get school inspectors to help him make Henryā€™s horridness increase! This gets Ashton Primary shut down and even though Henry hates schoolā€¦he still wants to save it?! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ABOUT???????????

Kids (12 and under) who loved the books and the TV series will probably love this too, teens and adults will be very, very bored! Be bored teens and adults! Be very, very, very bored! I really enjoy reading the books and even though the TV series (eventually) jumped the shark, it wasnā€™t bad at all!

But what serious miscasting! In real life, ā€˜Horrid Henryā€™ looks nothing like the cartoon! Not at all! They got some of the costumes right but Theo Stevenson was definitely the wrong choice for the title character! Scarlett Stitt doesnā€™t look like Moody Margaret and they were that lazy to not dye her hair the right colour! Stuck-Up Steve? Tyger-Drew Honey (Outnumbered) was definitely the wrong casting! And what was the big idea of casting Dick and Dom? Thatā€™s where the show ā€˜Too Cool For Schoolā€™ came in!

How ā€˜Horrid Henry: The Movieā€™ got in the cinemas is a mystery to me, it shouldā€™ve gone straight to video, in fact, itā€™s worse than many of the direct to DVD movies Iā€™ve seen

The only good thing about this movie is how they show all the rooms in Henryā€™s house at the same time, itā€™s not a great effect but itā€™s somewhat clever and itā€™s better than all the other effects in the movie! But did they really have to make Henry run towards the screen and splat his famous Purple Hand logo ā€“ and just plainly running out the house?

Boring, senseless and ridiculous

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 16 February 2014 03:22 (A review of Wild Target)

'Wild Target' is boring, senseless and ridiculous, I found it absurd with a script almost impossible to understand, the actors are pretty appalling (especially Rupert Grint and Gregor Fisher), it had a few good things but I didn't enjoy it whatsoever

Why? Well there's this ridiculous scene which makes no sense where (somehow), the characters meet up and point guns at each other and somehow Martin Freeman gets involved...

The best in the series

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 16 February 2014 01:00 (A review of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End)

ā€˜Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worldā€™s Endā€™ is actually not just better than ā€˜Dead Manā€™s Chestā€™ but also the best in the series and better than ā€˜The Curse of the Black Pearlā€™, Davy Jones was an interesting villain that has a heart (not in his body) and heā€™s presumably half CGI, the action scenes were actually really mind blowing, on the minus side I thought the plot was actually rather weak but my favourite thing about ā€˜At Worldā€™s Endā€™ was the relationship between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, particularly what happens between them at the end was something weird but also interesting, at the end, it gave you a boost on the fourth movie ā€˜On Stranger Tidesā€™ which focused on the Fountain of Youth, sadly the plot about the Fountain of Youth was linked to a bad movie!

One of the worst TV to movie adaptations ever

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 16 February 2014 12:49 (A review of The Avengers)

Iā€™ve never seen the TV show ā€˜The Avengersā€™ but I bet itā€™s better than this movie adaptation! ā€˜The Avengersā€™ is one of the worst TV to movie adaptations ever! What were Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery thinking? Where should I start?

After the opening credits, we see Ralph Fiennes as John Steed, meeting people in the street, weā€™re shown ridiculously dumb action scenes of Steed fighting people! In fact, most of the action scenes in this movie are stupid

Iā€™ve no idea but I think Uma Thurman is playing a good and a bad Emma Peel (just like Arnold Schwarzenegger in ā€˜Terminator 2: Judgment Dayā€™), she and Steed are both playing agents who have to stop Sean Conneryā€™s character Sir August De Wynter controlling the world with his high-tech weather machine?! What the hell is this? Itā€™s an odd TV to movie adaptation with poor acting, poor effects, ridiculous action scenes and confusing plot holes

Ralph Fiennes is appalling in the lead role, heā€™s much better in movies such as ā€˜Harry Potterā€™ and Uma Thurman is just rather over the top, she tried hard as Poison Ivy in ā€˜Batman & Robinā€™ but here, she tried waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too hard and gave a hammy performance, while Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman are an appalling screen couple, Sean Connery is even more hammy than Uma Thurman

One of the only good things about ā€˜The Avengersā€™ is a funny use of f*ck, itā€™s the one strong profanity used in the movie and why couldnā€™t it have been the only thing? I donā€™t care if it being the only thing wouldā€™ve made the movie five seconds, it probably wouldā€™ve been much better!

A very good classic

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 8 February 2014 09:37 (A review of Sense and Sensibility)

'Sense and Sensibility' is a very good classic, thanks to its interesting plot, solid acting (especially Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet), wonderful sets and costumes and some classic dialogue with Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant, it deserved its Oscar nominations (and also some wins)

Tom Hanks deserved his Oscar

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 8 February 2014 06:24 (A review of Philadelphia)

'Philadelphia' was one of the first mainstream Hollywood movies to acknowledge HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, and homophobia, it also earned Tom Hanks his first Oscar

Tom Hanks deserved his Oscar, it was easily one of his best performances, Denzel Washington is also very good in it, but Tom Hanks gives the best performance in this movie

When did Batman become Badman?

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 2 February 2014 09:38 (A review of Batman & Robin)

When did Batman become Badman? In the movie 'Batman & Robin', the forth movie in the 'Batman' series, 'Batman' was a very good movie, 'Batman Returns' was darker and scarier and I liked it more but it went a bit too far, 'Batman Forever', I liked but not quite as much! 'Batman & Robin' however, was just downright terrible!

The first scene in the movie, we're shown Batman (George Clooney) and Robin (Chris O'Donnell) suiting up and we're shown close-ups on the Batnipples! What the hell? And then we're shown their rear ends being covered in armour, and all the crap dialogue comes at the start when Robin says he wants a car and Batman says "This is why Superman works alone!", we see Mr Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) the villain when Batman and Robin bust in and try to take a diamond Mr Freeze needs to power his armour, Robin takes it and they literally play ice hockey across the ice

It introduces Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone) but sadly most of the performances in the movie are terrible, Uma Thurman tries hard as Poison Ivy but sadly Arnold Schwarzenegger (in particular), George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell are over the top while there isn't much consistency in Alicia Silverstone's performance; first she doesn't give a crap and then when she becomes Batgirl, her performance goes over the meter!

There's even terrible Bat-puns where they put Bat on everything and an auction where Batman and Robin are seduced by Poison Ivy and they start bidding on her, in the end, Batman bids $7 million and takes out a Bat Credit Card! What the heck is that all about? What, oh what is the reason for putting Bat on everything, 'The Lego Movie' came up with a Bat pun "We're winging!"

Another sequel?

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 2 February 2014 05:15 (A review of Jaws: The Revenge)

Another sequel? But they've made three movies in the 'Jaws' series already, the first one was great, the second was average and the third was really terrible

But even though 'Jaws 3' is one of the worst movies ever, 'Jaws: The Revenge' is 100 times worse, I can't believe how much I hate it, I got what I expected!

I didn't know what the plot was about except for the fact that it had a forth great white shark and what are actors like Lorraine Gary, Lance Guest, Mario Van Peebles, Karen Young and Michael Caine doing in something as dreadful as this? Did they not see 'Jaws 3'?

'Jaws: The Revenge' is just blooming horrible, and not in a good or funny way, thank god they never made a fifth movie, it'd be a box office bomb, well this movie is lucky it didn't become a box office bomb but it should've been as it's so dreadful, so horrific and so godawful that you would not want to see it - at all!

0/10
