A smart, funny classic

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 29 December 2013 12:46 (A review of Who Framed Roger Rabbit)

'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' is a smart, funny classic with wonderful animation, good acting and a clever story

It is 1947, there are cartoons known as "toons" which involves a rabbit Roger married to (some sort of) a sex symbol with high breasts called Jessica Rabbit

Eddie Valiant goes to Toontown where all the toons live in the last 30 minutes, just imagine if the 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' world were entirely animated (except for the live action people)

Horrible acting and over the top effects

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 28 December 2013 04:20 (A review of The Last Airbender)

Welcome to my 100th review, thatā€™s right, 100 reviews of good or bad movies and TV shows

ā€˜The Last Airbenderā€™ has horrible acting, over the top effects, a way beyond confusing and a boring story, prepare to be taken through it!

A ā€˜Last Airbenderā€™ inspired Paramount logo, awesome! The opening credits music sounds epic! We have someone with raging fire! But those effects are a bit over the top!

ā€œA hundred years ago, all was right with our world. Prosperity and faith filled our days!ā€ But everything is alright now, whatā€™s wrong with our world now?

ā€œThe Four Nations: Water, Earth, Fire and Air Nomads lived amongst each other in harmony!ā€ The what nations? The four what who? Oh thatā€™s just because I havenā€™t seen the cartoon! But that is just confusing! Can we just have a proper opening please?

ā€œBook One: Waterā€, a book on water? That should be interesting! Oh but it has over the top effects of water balls! Hey itā€™s Nicola Peltz who is underacting, the kind of performance to give in something like this! But thatā€™s just too far! Put some effort into your performance! Okay theyā€™re walking off, weā€™re three minutes in and Iā€™m already confused, Nicola Peltz is not putting any effort into her performance and the effects are over the top! ā€˜The Last Airbenderā€™ is going to suck!

Book 1 is called ā€œWaterā€ but there appears to be much more ice than water! Why not call it ā€œIceā€, thatā€™s a much better title! Donā€™t you agree?

There appears to be something coming out the ice! Must be another over the top effect! Whatever it is, it must be big though as they are running away as the ice constantly cracks! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! IT MUST BE A MONSTER MADE OF ICE!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!!!! Oh, itā€™s just a movie, so sit back down again!

Oh, Nicola Peltz is hitting it, well donā€™t blame me if you get thrown off the set! Well they were literally blown away by the ice

Okay, it looks like some sort of light! This movie would be better off without effects! These effects are way too over the top! Blah, blah, blah! Letā€™s just fast forward or else weā€™ll be here forever!

Theyā€™ve discovered some sort of giant ā€˜Ice Ageā€™ animal or something and a boy who is either unconscious or asleep or even dead! Oh it appears to be Aang, our first sight of Noah Ringer! Are those tattoos all over his back or something? And his performance is just horrible! Know why this movie sucks?

A snow camp with igloo tents everywhere! And loads of creepy children! Just keep this movie animated like the cartoon! And there are armoured guys everywhere that look like Goombas in ā€˜Super Mario Bros.ā€™

Come on weā€™re going to be here forever, so Iā€™ll tell you it in notes:
The Goombas are taking the Avatar on their ship to see their father while everyone else is being attacked by a huge rat that sounds like a dinosaur?! You know what, this story about the Avatar is a rip-off of ā€˜The Last Legionā€™

One of the men looks like Ben Kingsley in ā€˜The Last Legionā€™, oh is Noah Ringer impersonating Thomas Sangster or something? Because thatā€™s what it seems like! A CHEAP SPOOF!!!

The plot is confusing and keeps changing directions, in fact this is an awful movie with horrible acting, over the top effects, worthless action scenes, a boring, muddled story with no consistency, confusing nation scenes and a whole load of horror, the only good thing is the poster and thatā€™s it, why did ā€˜The Last Airbenderā€™ have to be made, I donā€™t know but itā€™s definitely 103 minutes too long! Thereā€™s a million things that Iā€™d rather do than watch this and when it ended, I thought ā€œSwitch it off before I blow my brains out!ā€

Not as good as the original

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 28 December 2013 01:54 (A review of Monsters University)

'Monsters University' is not as good as the original movie 'Monsters Inc.' but is still a very good movie

The first Pixar prequel focuses more on Mike and how he went to Monsters Incorporated at the age of 6 and 11/12 years later attended Monsters University, it is interesting how Mike and Sulley met and at first were enemies, this kicks them out of a scare program and they have to compete in the Scare Games in order to get back in, they soon become best friends

With decent cameos from Roz and the Yeti, 'Monsters University' has some interesting and/or hilarious new characters and as usual the animation is just gorgeous

NOTE: My next review is my 100th and will be a very long one, don't forget to read it and leave a comment below

'The Mask' is funny and just epic, a movie that will entertain all thanks to the amusement of Jim Carrey as The Mask (and the dog) and the epic action scenes, just an interesting story, great acting and awesome action will make 'The Mask' a movie to be watched by everyone

The dumbest movie of the year

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 27 December 2013 09:36 (A review of Jack and Jill)

Adam Sandler is just a bad actor, he plays two characters in 'Jack and Jill' which is the dumbest movie of the year

'Jack and Jill' is about twins who couldn't be more different - except they're both portrayed by Adam Sandler!

This movie is just unfunny, one of the worst jokes is where Jack dresses as Jill to spend a night with Al Pacino (yes Al Pacino in an Adam Sandler movie); he goes into a toilet, undresses himself, puts bras on (and grapefruits inside to look like breasts), sprays his body with some sort of deodorant and then puts a dress and a wig on

The only good bit in the movie is when Al Pacino has a new name to go with Dunk N' Donuts and they sing and dance about it, everything else (acting, screenplay, directing, other jokes) totally suck! (although Al Pacino doesn't give that bad a performance)

Jill is almost as annoying as Fred Figglehorn who is the most annoying movie character ever, so pit Jill against the Annoying Orange; that will be a laugh to see who is more annoying!

A decent entertainment

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 24 December 2013 01:58 (A review of Splash)

'Splash' was a 1980s movie that made Tom Hanks famous before he became a huge star for doing 'Big' and this flick was also good

Although it isn't as good as 'Big', 'Splash' is a decent entertainment, an underrated movie which has an interesting story and a very good cast (Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, Eugene Levy, John Candy)

Allen Bauer thought he'd never find the right woman...he was definitely only half wrong, a good crossover between 'The Little Mermaid' and 'The Blue Lagoon', 'Splash' is definitely a fish out of water comedy

Boring first half, great second half

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 23 December 2013 10:35 (A review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey)

When I watched 'Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring', I was impressed by the first two hours but then it got boring

'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' has a boring first half, great second half. The second half was mind blowing. In my opinion, the movie is 100 times better than the first 'Lord of the Rings'

Great effects, great costumes, good acting; 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' has given me hopes that the sequel will also be very good

An interesting, entertaining drama

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 23 December 2013 07:54 (A review of About a Boy)

Hugh Grant has starred in many movies such as 'Four Weddings & A Funeral', 'Notting Hill' and 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (which is from the makers) but it's not about a girl, it's about a boy

'About A Boy' is an interesting, entertaining drama with a good story, very good acting and directing. If you liked 'Four Weddings & A Funeral', you'll like this too

Funny at the start, rubbish for the rest

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2013 05:26 (A review of The Harry Hill Movie (2013))

I just love 'TV Burp' and 'You've Been Framed' and when my neighbors went to see it, I just had to go with them

'The Harry Hill Movie' is funny at the start, rubbish for the rest. The good jokes and comedy happen in the first 20 minutes where Harry literally says the music (the music plays and he moves his mouth), loads of other hilarious things happen

But then the hamster Abu becomes big and then the movie became really stupid, completely boring and unfunny, the cast tries hard but the only cast member to give a good performance is Julie Walters, anyway it's just a waste of talent

There is also this ridiculous 'Jurassic Park' parody where Harry and his Nan hide from giant brains and accidentally knock some frying pans over blowing their cover! If you wanted that to be a surprise then I'm sorry I spoiled it for you!

A stupid cartoon with no plot

Posted : 10 years, 5 months ago on 20 December 2013 08:23 (A review of Tom and Jerry: The Movie)

'Tom and Jerry' is just a hilarious cartoon, its slapstick is the reason and just what is up with making a feature film with them in it?

'Tom and Jerry: The Movie' is a stupid cartoon with no plot, the good animation is not enough to save the stupidity, terrible voice acting and really silly plot

What was popular about the cartoon? The slapstick and the fact that the cat and mouse were mute (except a few times, here there is not much slapstick at all)

90% laugh free, this is nothing like the shorts! But what a silly plot! Tom and Jerry[Link removed - login to see] with Pugsy, a stray dog, and his friend Frankie Da Flea who try to make them be friends??!!! The hell? And you hear the two talk for the first time, younger kids may think that would be a good idea - adults however, would think it's just silly

And what the hell was the reason for making 'Tom and Jerry: The Movie' a musical? The shorts never had songs and most of the songs in this crap are absolute bull crap!

A pointless boring movie 'Tom and Jerry: The Movie' is worse than 'Yogi Bear' (which is terrible too) and what oh what was the reason for bringing in loads of new characters? (Robyn for example)
